Having agreed their business plan and terms of reference, the Joint Committee has moved quickly to address how the role of the Director of Public Health can be better utilised in local areas. Andrew Cozens (IDeA/LGA) and a representative from the Association of Directors of Public Health attended a recent meeting to discuss the most effective ways to disseminate the key messages from the IDeA report ‘Leading Together Better’.
The Joint Committee is also working to influence the focus of the National Children and Adult Services Conference so that it reflects the increasingly shared agenda of the two associations. The Committee is also working closely with SCIE as a means of making sure practice and strategic direction reflects learning and best evidence from research and pilot sites. It is hoped this partnership with SCIE will lead to a jointly delivered policy session at the NCASC in the autumn of 2010.
The Joint Committee will continue to offer its views regarding consultations which share themes across adult and children’s services and these will be fed through to subject specific committees across both associations as a means of providing a comprehensive response to upcoming proposals.
