Remit

This policy committee covers all aspects of educational achievement, including pre-school, primary school, secondary school, further education and training and support for the improvement of educational standards. In particular, the committee leads on school improvement, relationships with academies and free schools and the role of the local authority in education. The committee liaises closely with the Health, Care and Additional Needs Policy Committee on the wellbeing and educational outcomes of children in care and provision for those with special educational needs.

November 2011

The Educational Achievement Committee last met on 22nd September, immediately following the last Council of Reference meeting. The Committee discussed:

The Committee have submitted consultation responses on the Early Years Foundation Stage and school performance data.
At the next meeting, the Committee will be discussing special school academies, as well as work experience at KS4, 16 – 19 programmes of study and PSHE in order to respond to consultations on these topics.
