Remit

The Resources and Sustainability Policy Committee has lead responsibility for all issues relating to the resourcing and organisation of children’s services, including:

• national and local organisation of children’s services
• funding (capital and revenue) of children’s services, including of schools
• school admissions, place planning and home to school transport
• strategic planning and commissioning
• the overall use of resources and sustainability.

Committee members represent the Association on various reference groups organised by the Department for Education, including the Capital and Revenue and the Fair Access task and finish groups of the Ministerial Advisory Group; the Service Working Group on Education and Children’s Services (SWEGECS); and the Schools Funding Implementation Group (SFIG).

Consultation responses

• Philip Moss led drafting of ADCS response to DfE consultation ‘School Funding Reform: proposals for a fairer system’
• Gill Rollings led drafting of ADCS response to DfE consultation ‘Implementation of recommendations in the James Review of Capital Funding for Education’
• Annie Hudson appeared before the House of Commons Education Select Committee to give oral evidence on the Draft School Admissions Code and Draft School Admissions Appeals Code

Future meetings

The Committee is due to meet next on November 25th and, in addition to standing agenda items, will discuss SEN issues in school funding reform.
