Heather Sandy, Chair of the ADCS education policy committee, said:  

“The Association has long called for a national register, which will help to identify exactly how many children are being educated other than at school. We are pleased with the Government’s plans to establish one and would want to see implementation brought forward as quickly as possible.

“This must be accompanied by adequate resources for local authorities to meet the new duties in the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, in terms of setting up and maintaining the register and providing oversight, as well as support for home educating children and families.”
