Ann Graham, President at the Association of Directors of Children's Services, said:
“We welcome the government’s announcement that recent local government reorganisation (LGR) decisions will be reviewed, as ADCS has consistently raised concerns about the risks this presents for both children and children’s services. Throughout the process of LGR, our members have flagged the risks of destabilising high-performing services and disrupting vital multi-agency safeguarding arrangements when, at the very moment, local government is being split into smaller units, with health and the police in the process of aggregating up into larger units. We look forward to hearing how the government plans to mitigate risks and provide local authorities with reassurance that, going forward, any disruptions to children’s services and children’s lives due to LGR will be minimised.”
