Young carers tell us of the importance of joint working and the real difference that timely and effective support services make. To help support this, a model local Memorandum of Understanding was published jointly by the Carer’s Trust, the LGA, ADCS and ADASS in December 2009. This was updated in 2012, 2015 and most recently in 2024.
The revised template in this latest edition reflects the important new duties and powers placed on local authorities, updates to key guidance plus reforms in the wider system e.g. the creation of integrated care partnerships. Additional guidance is also available alongside the latest update to support local adoption, tailoring and use.
The template in this paper is a resource to help promote working together between adult and children’s social care services and enhanced partnership working with health and third sector partners.
