Dheeraj Chibber, Chair of the ADCS Health, Care & Commissioning Policy Network said:
"The government’s new national recruitment campaign for foster carers is a much welcomed initiative and one that ADCS has long been calling for. Foster care is at the heart of our care system and can be transformational for children which is why this new campaign is vital in attracting more people into this special role. Children’s needs are changing and becoming more complex, so while we need to recruit more foster carers, we also need to focus on retention; the right training and ongoing support is vital.
"ADCS remains concerned about the cost of care placements, profiteering and the role of private equity in care services, therefore a national campaign must focus on increasing local authority and not-for-profit foster care sufficiency.”
